I
did this contemporary stained glass entry for a home in
Castle Rock, Colorado. Below is a photo of matching panels I did for
the transom windows in the adjacent living room. The interesting aspect
of these artworks (especially the entryway, above) is how an effective,
original design can tie a number of separated spaces together. In fact,
the hardest part of creating these entryway windows was taking
accurate measurements and drawing the full-size patterns so that the
large circular lines in the stained glass would appear to match up
correctly.
These stained glass windows incorporated 7 different clear glasses, chosen
for their ability to look good together while
giving the right amount of privacy. The touches of colored glass match
the color scheme of the foyer and living room.
When I finished putting in the
entry windows and stood back to see my work, I was truly moved
by the overall effect of this entryway stained glass. Although I love what I
do for a living, it is a
particularly great day when this happens. Since most of the artworks
that I do as commissions are geared to the clients' tastes and not
mine, not all of my commissions grab me the way this project did. My
client and I stood and stared at the windows for many minutes...
needless to say, she was very pleased!
